2017 Ducati SuperSport 113 hp Unveiled: An Everyday Sportbike

Ducati SuperSport Launch India

Ducati has unveiled its all-new SuperSport range of motorcycles born with sport flair but is equally suited for street-oriented commuting and touring. As an entry-level model in the entire Ducati range, the new bike with relatively easy-to-ride credentials is likely to enter the Indian market by next year. It is expected to be priced lower than the existing Ducati 959 Panigale

Unveiled at the 2016 Intermot exhibition held in Cologne, Germany this week, the new SuperSport appears like a toned-down version of the 959 Panigale sportbike, retaining the latter's face with a restyled LED headlamp. The exhaust is also distinctive as the single-sided swingarm, while the  revised footpeg positioning may bring rider a comparatively upright and relaxed riding position. With a wheel base of 1,478 mm and 31.9 inch seat height, the SuperSport features a trellis frame and weighs almost 210 kgs.

Powered by a 937 cc Testastretta engine borrowed from the Hypermotard 939 range, the new SuperSport is delivers 113 hp at 9000 rpm and 96.7 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm, with 80% of the torque available as low as 3,000 rpm. The bikes packs in Ducati safety systems including Bosch ABS and 8-level Traction control, along with three riding modes - Sport, Touring and Urban - which basically adjusts throttle sensitivity, power delivery, traction control and ABS intervention depending on the rider's requirement.

Ducati SuperSport is expected to be launched in India in next year, with pricing below 959 Panigale.
The SuperSport will be available in two tunes - standard and 'S' top-spec variant. The SuperSport S will get a fully adjustable Ohlins fork and rear shock, Ducati Quick Shift for clutch-less downshifts, and a customised rear seat cowl. While both the variants receive 320 mm dual-discs Brembo braking system with M4.32 calipers, the full color TFT infomatics screens, an underseat USB port, and LED DRLs are also standard across the range.
